After 5 days, got a bit of time in between
showers to get the motors together.
Didn’t have the nerve to go out as I didn’t
want to get them wet!!!!!!
.

Finally ,a break in the weather and
their on the boat.
.

As usual, they ran great in the barrel at home but—
rain is back so I’m burn up time editing some video.

June 26, 2023 at 12:02 pm #277432The little “Pal” may have some running issues, but it sure looks nice,
as well as that Evinrude that we want to see running too!
I rarely have a “first time” motor test on the boat go 100%……
usually something stupid like a plugged gas cap vent, etc.Prepare to be boarded!

July 2, 2023 at 9:00 pm #277626I once had a ’56 Scott Atwater 5hp that was beautiful, but was allergic to lake water. It would run fantastic in a barrel, but every time I put it on a boat, it would not start up after the first run down the lake, thus making a long paddle back. I gave up and gave it away to another sucker….I didn’t have the heart to sell it for good money. I hope you have better results..

As you are likely aware, with the small motors, crankcase compression is particularly important for good slow speed running. Think that could be the issue with the Pal?

I’m certain it was just that. I had the motor
apart, in a container, for several weeks to before
it spent 3 days traveling in the back of a pickup.
As the crank shaft was out of the lower main
bearing the oil that makes the seal was lost. Once
that oil was replaced, from running, the starting issue
went away. As usual, my attempt to clean the gas
tank wasn’t totally successful. I struggled with that
for a bit but I have run just over a gallon of gas
through it now and its doing really well.
Now it’s time for some performance upgrades.

July 10, 2023 at 9:09 am #277938That’s one mean looking Elto Tubs.
Did it have that exhaust pipe on it when
it was running in the video? If so, much quieter
than I would have thought.Prepare to be boarded!

Not on it in that video but I have some.
I need to edit it and change the format-
weather permitting.
Up loading here takes a while here too.
I don’t want to spend the time on it if its nice.
