Thanks for posting, very interesting. I guess even the 1950’s motors we collect seem ancient compared to the new electric outboards. But, call me an old curmudgeon, that high-tech electric outboard has the same inherent problem as my cordless drill. The battery only lasts so long, and eventually it won’t hold a charge and will need to be replaced. And where’s the blue smoke?
Hold on: 67 hp makes a 28 foot boat with 12 people on board, go 34 mph? If that’s true, that’s not impressive. That’s witchcraft. (I can think of a better word but I can’t use it here.) Still, there’s sea weed, fish line, rocks and the Swedish tendency to allow salt water to get into everything. If they also engineered some kind of new, miracle shaft seals, NOW we’d be talking.
That’s very cool it should work fine until the shaft seals get bad and then it will be a problem. I heard BRP is working on the next greatest thing in boat power and its supposed to be all below the bottom of the boat. Sounds like they might be working on something like this and maybe these guys beat them to it.
