I have a Johnson RD-10 and I would like to remove the gear at the end of the tiller handle. It looks like there is a roll pin that is holding it on.Does any one know if that is what I have to remove to get the gear off. Thanks Russ…

        Yes, that’s it.

Drive the pin out and the gear will come off the shaft.

And that roll pin should be re-usable as long as you don’t destroy it during removal. I have had some trouble with the pin removal due to corrosion. Not sure if it was stainless/aluminum incompatibility or just old a stuck.

Mumbles: how are those pins sized? Just by length and diameter? Easily shortened without destroying?
