Can anyone confirm that the tiller from a 1960 Evinrude 10 will fit a 1967 Fastwin 18? The same tiller fits 5.5, 10 and 18 in 1960. The gear and shaft are the same PN on the 1967, but the castings are a different number. Will it work, or is the mounting different?

        Adam,

I just looked at 3 OMC motors, a 1953 Fastwin 15, a 1957 AD-11, and my 1967 Fastwin 18. All the tillers are the same dimensions. Might be different casting numbers, but I am going to say the 1960 will work on your 1967.

The 1953 has the "sharper" gears, while the other two have the later style rounded gears. Other parts and pieces should be interchangeable.

The only difference was in the plastic hand grip. They had problems with that stamped gear and shaft, making minor changes. In mid 1956 they went to a cast gear that solved most of the problems. Make sure whatever tiller you use (5.5, 7.5, 10, 12, 15, 18, & 20 HP outboards) make sure the gear & shaft on the motor matches it. . . 😉
