Richard, I seminar or perhaps an tech article in the "Outboarder" covering the use of the Magneto Syncronizer would be of great interest to me and I’m guessing many others.

quote Richard A. White:

Flywheel must be removed, and Frank’s timing tool used to set points, actual gap is not as important as "when" the spark occurs.
I can do a seminar at Constantine…If that would help

Richard,
If you do a seminar at Constantine, I hope it is while I’m there. I ordered one of them today. I may or may not have it figured out by then. I’ll only be there on Saturday. It seems like this will be a very useful tool.in getting the best run / idle quality possible.

Well, I will see what I can do on an article in the Outboarder……I am not very eloquent, but I can give it a whirl
Would still be able to do a Tech session at Constantine as well…

That would be excellent. I’ll look forward to both.

There was a discussion here a year or two ago about using the aircraft synchronizers on outboard motors but I can’t remember where it ended up. Now I’m wondering if the ATOM ignition modules don’t use this same principle since they improve the idling and starting characteristics so good.

I remember that conversation. There was some good information in there, although things went off the rails a bit. I use the same atomizer/buzz box that Richard mentioned. I’ve used it for years and wouldn’t do it any other way. Its especially good for setting up the Mercury 4 cylinder magneto and stops.

Here is the old thread on this subject…

Thanks for the help guys. As i suspected, timing was slightly late. It now starts on the 1st pull
