I have a 1950 TN-26 with no spark. Coils have almost 4 ohms, condenser tests good, Wires have continuity, Rotor is magnetized. I must be missing something and I can’t figure it out. Do these motors have some sort of ignition switch when you the throttle all the way off to stop the engine?. Also, I saw some sort of (Oil Wiper) next to the coils in an instruction manual that I don’t see on my motor. I keep thinking I’m missing something simple.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
September 11, 2020 at 2:18 pm #215594If I remember correctly, the do have a switch that turns it off when throttle lever is at extreme left. But that probably is not the problem. Most of those things will run just fine by simply cleaning the points. Don’t just clean them, CLEAN them. That means remove them from the motor and take them apart, degrease everything, and polish each contact shiny bright, individually. Reassemble and set gap to 0.020″ at widest opening. Do one set at a time so you have a sample of how they go together. And don’t lose any of the small insulators.

September 12, 2020 at 3:14 pm #216251This motor just ran for a brief moment. The carb leaks around the primer and squirts fuel out of the front near the low speed jet. Is there a carb kit for a TN-26 or do I need to improvise?

Some backspray out the slow speed jet when priming is normal (to me, anyway)
September 13, 2020 at 6:11 am #216321Backspray out of the low speed intake while priming is normal and a sign of a clean low speed system in the carburetor. Then there is a low speed “sneeze” while running, that is usually a sign of a lean low speed needle setting.
September 13, 2020 at 3:59 pm #216345Look below for the “1939 Johnson 5 HP” Instructions for ordering new primer seals and installation instructions are provided in that thread. You may also need to test and clean out the one way ball valve at the bottom of the carb that takes fuel up to the low speed orifice. Spray out of the low speed orifice is normal when priming as Frank noted above. 231-929-7479
