Working on this motor and found some type of resin or goop. When I pulled the tank off this was on the bottom side of it and on the inside of flywheel and all over the coils and mag plate. It was dry and I could scrape some off. Is it possible that someone was trying to seal lamination on coils? No big cracks that i can see.Lots of goop where wires go into coils and on the front side of coils. These look original. Nothing inside of coils that can leak out? Thanks Russ……..

Maybe somebody used a type of grease on the cam lobe or they sprayed some lube up there and it dried up. It’s hard telling what Bubba might do to a motor in all those years. The only thing under there with lube, is oil on the piece of felt that lubes the breaker point cam. I guess somebody could have gotten carried away. The other possibility could be the upper crank seal under the plate could be leaking a little over time.
