Hey everyone, I been having some troubles with my recoil off my tn-27. The recoil will turn but the dogs won’t engage. It worked perfectly before I took it apart so i assume that it is an assembly issue and that nothing is broken. The pin on dark center piece does not fit into the grove in the recoil housing. Any suggestions to What the issue is or how to fix it would be great.

Did you get the pawls and springs put back on correctly? A photo would be worth
a thousand words……. not sure what you’re talking about by the “dark center”.

I may be wrong (probably) but I would think the TN-27 would have the new Simplex-style starter. If that is correct, the thing that everybody goofs up is the equilizer spring. The spring mus be pre-assembled onto the shoulder of the spindle before inserting the spindle into the rope pulley.

Absolutely correct! I just spent several hours figuring that out on a SD-20.

Looks like your were correct Frank. That drawing I had must be for a TD-20.
I’ve been buggered up by that spring you refer to a couple of times before
                  I learned my lesson.
