I’m thinking of changing my Evinrude 35 hp to a fuel pump. Other than getting the pump and hoses is their anything you have to change or add?

August 7, 2016 at 8:48 am #41703A 35hp is already set up to accept a fuel pump. Save yourself a lot of work by using a pump that fits it. A Sierra 18-7351 would be such a pump. Because the fittings point downward, move the bypass cover to the top cylinder. You won’t need the glass filter that is there now because the pump has a filter screen.
You will have to drill the pulse hole on through the bypass cover and tap the screw holes to 10-24 threads.

August 7, 2016 at 1:39 pm #41711Bugger, I did not realize you could drill through there. I got an evinrude pump #0438555. Should I change this? Or could I still use it, tap the screw holes and get the pulse from the hose on the bottom.
August 7, 2016 at 2:06 pm #41713That’s an option if the hose will fit.

You will need to replace the valve cover gaskets or make new ones your self.

Yes you could drill one of the bypass covers for a hose fitting to supply the pulse to the pump. You might be able to mount the pump to the other bypass cover and drive it with a pulse hose. All I can say is look it over and see if it is doable. I haven’t tried it.
