trying to find new coils for a HD-20

Can anybody direct me to where I can find a pair of new coils and points for an HD-20

Pretty sure no one is reproducing either, so you’ll have to find good used
or make do with what you have.

I have the name of the guy in SW Windy City, maybe he can help rebuild or………….

I am also looking for some spark plug wire. AOMCI turned me onto a guy who has 3 or 4 colors of 7MM  ignition cable for I think I remember about $1.95/foot

but I can’t find the name of the guy. might you know who sells new wire?

Have you tested the coils. Most of the time the original coils are fine. As long as they test OK with an ohmmeter, the purchase of ridiculously expensive NOS coils doesn’t make much sense. If you want new ignition wires, they will need to be soldered on regardless if the coils are new or used. Soldering is a little tricky, if your not experienced at it, and the coil can be ruined from too much heat.

Guys are you talking about the push rod points?   I have a backing plate complete with good coils from a 1950 Evinrude 14hp.  Is that the same as an HD20?    They seam to throw good spark in my tester.
