Just a big "Thanks" to all the guys who chimed in about the problem I was having with one of the motors letting water into the crankcase a couple of weeks ago.
As suggested, I replaced the exhaust cover gaskets, and BINGO !We had the rig out yesterday, and the recovery system…. has recovered, yahoo.
Previously I was getting twice the volume of fluids out of the left engine, yesterday they were balanced.
I also noticed that fuel consumption was exactly the same this trip, previously the left engine was using up more fuel. This Forum is GREAT, thanks again.
Bill.

Glad to hear you got it solved. Although it took awhile to track it down, good to see it was a simple fix.

I can see how bad gaskets there could cause the difference in oil capturing, but I don’t understand how the fuel consumption would change. The exhaust gaskets are post-combustion, so I would think that "mileage" wouldn’t be affected.
What am I missing? I’m newer to outboard engines with only a couple of years under my belt, so I’m looking to learn all I can!

This was the first time I’ve tried the twin engine concept, and the rigging was interesting.
The boat is supposedly rated for 80hp, but the twins get it up to almost 30 mph which is plenty for me.
I do have a ’65 Evinrude V-4 60 hp that I was thinking about using to power the boat, but really enjoy the uniqueness of the TWO Javelins.Bill.
