Harry, I looked through my file photos, and while I didn’t see anything “Navy”
for Waterwitch, but I found photos of a Model 550-75 that I don’t ever remember
        seeing one in person before.
It looks heavy duty enough to be in the Navy!

Buc,Although the rope plate says Waterwitch,I think motor is probably a Johnson.Possibly OK60.Do you remember if the rope plate# matched the one on crankcase?

Yeah, after I looked at it again, it resembles a Speedster, or some kind of OMC.

I’ve never seen the motor, just these three photos I found on the Net somewhere.

              I can’t find a Waterwitch model 550.75 model, but
did find an ad with a similar looking motor as in the photos above.

Well,I’ll be darned if that’s not it!So it looks like a Waterwitch badged Johnson. There were interesting things happening coming out of the depression.More research definitely necessary.

That Johnson ‘witch is nearly as rare as the 10HP , both also on my list.  The 1941 Navy twin cylinder witches should be model 571.24, of which at least 35 were crated and ready for shipment. However, they could have been special long shafts with a different model number.

The motor pictured was listed about 2.5 hours from me. Price was not out of
line but was reflected in its rarity and condition. It’s not on my I want one list
but I watched it to see if there was any interest till it sold. Recognized it right
away at Tomahawk. Glad I have it in my “picture collection”.
