unknown brass fitting found in boat parts

I have this valve looking thing, it was attached to about a 1/4″ ID rubber line, it was in a big milk crate of old boat motor stuff.

anyone know what it is or what it’s called?

the plug is plastic and under the plug is like a one-way-kind of thing.

It looks like a garden hose fitting on the one end so maybe it is used for squirting water?

You should take it apart to see what’s inside. Maybe a screen or filter?
