So I am replacing the crank seals on an RD-17 I’m working on.
I have 2 questions:
1. I have a kit to replace the lower bearing and seal and convert it to a carbon seal assembly. Do I need to do the same for the top seal or just replace it with another lip seal? What part number would I need for the top seal?
2. Does anyone have a good source for piston rings? I figure I might as well replace those too while I have it open.
any other hints or gotchas that aren’t apparent in the online shop manual we all look at? tricks of the trade from others who have done this?
