Assembling the carbs, I noticed a float (383437) was hanging a big cockeyed and twisted the arm a little to align it. The foam split and the arm popped loose. Obviously a bad move on my part but it seemed to split more easily than it should have. I ordered two new ones–they are cheap on ebay–but am wondering: Is this common? Is there any adhesive that has worked to fix them? (If I had pinched the float firmly before twisting, it likely wouldn’t have failed.)

I also noticed that the Sierra needle/seat is dimensionally different than the original and the float would have been way out of adjustment without bending the arm.

      Live and learn……

Of course you know that you should grab the metal part of the float arm with a needle nose pliers or a forceps to bend it, so I won’t mention that. Interesting about the float valve hole size.
