I recently acquired a McCulloch 45 hp outboard motor to consign for a gentleman. Unfortunately the only information I have on it is the serial number. I’ve been searching the internet with no success trying to find a way to get any information I can about it’s details/specs/value using the serial number. Any advice from you fabulous experts would be more than appreciated!!
Thanks in advance,

July 15, 2018 at 7:03 am #79590The serial number is 65304531
Only info I was verbally given as far as condition was that it runs and has "low hours". They did not, however, have an estimate on their definition of low hoursJuly 15, 2018 at 11:54 am #79596It is a 1965 motor
July 15, 2018 at 2:22 pm #79603Oh my goodness, y’all made this seem easy! Thanks so much! I do always like an opportunity to learn new things though so I have to ask, did you just happen to know the year? Or is there a significance of the serial number, or possibly even a place to look them up? I’ll take any beginner tips for dummies you’re kind enough to take them to educate me with for future projects!!
July 15, 2018 at 3:43 pm #79607The model number identifies it as a ’65 45 horse with electric start. Discount Marine should have any necessary parts needed for it.

July 15, 2018 at 3:47 pm #79608Well, I could pretend to be that smart, but I’m not. It just so happens that the first two numbers in the serial indicate the year. But I didn’t know that. I Iooked it up at http://www.discount-marine-parts.com
