      US MEMBER PAY BY CHECK

      Good news cleaned it up replaced the seal on prop shaft, started it up tonight, Pumping water not a lot ? . Just seems hot? what’s a good running temp for this motor? is it 16 to one oil ?

        I think by 1953 the 2.5hp had been replaced by a 3hp.  I would think 16/1 with TC-W3 is alright whether it is a 3hp or a 2.5hp.  Is your impeller below the water line in your test tank?

          If it is a 1953 3 HP, you will just see some spray coming out small holes next to the transom. There is no solid stream. A 1952 and 1953 are both model JW-10. The last year of the 2.5 was 1951 model HD-26.

          As Sam said, Be sure the water is several inches above the cavitation plate, as the water has to be above the level of the pump or it won’t self-prime. If you have run it for a few minutes with the water level too low, you may have damaged the impeller.
