      Anybody got a parts diagram/list for a Muncie/Neptune made Water Witch OB1?

Seems to have cork seals in the lower unit. The upper seal is in pieces. Did it come in a metal cup, or is it just a cork tube that you work in? Similar questions about the prop shaft seal. Has anyone replaced this with a modern seal?

It has a twist grip tiller with a curious linkage to the carb. I think I’m missing a piece.

      Thanks for any help.

The carb cover is missing in your pic. Also I cant see the choke lever which should be there.
I think the choke is spring loaded.

The throttle stop screw is used to adjust the low speed lean/rich.

The throttle linkage looks complete at the carb end.

I also found a cork seal for the upper crank shaft seal on my OB35A, looking further it seems it may also have one just above the water pump for the drive shaft…I found a metal cover plate on the cork seal in the crank case, but have not delved into the lower unit..yet

Thanks for the responses. Jim, do you have one of these motors? I’d like to see a photo of the linkage to see what I’m missing. I’ve been searching to see if this carb was used on other motors. Tillotson MS17A I’d like to find a carb kit, if they are available. The jet….tube….thing was buggered and I buggered it further. Also, the float needle is slightly worn.

Richard, Thanks for mentioning the seal above the water pump. Looks like I have cork there too.

Are cork seals still available or do we just switch to modern seals?

                David,

I have the Neptune version of that motor, but it is at the camp so I can’t get you any pic’s anytime soon.

My OB1 is long gone. I am pretty sure the seals can be replaced by modern ones. I think the size is
1/2 ID, 1 OD, 1/4 thick but that is for the 4 hp version so check your motor. The seals are available at NAPA.

The throttle linkage is different from the opposed twins so you will have to find a parts motor.
Ron M may be able to help you with a diagram.

If you look on e-bay there is listed a Neptune 1937 OB12 that has some very good pix of the carb. It appears that your Tollitson carb does not have the little finger lever for closing the choke. Apparently Muncie used carbs with several different choke lever arrangements. I have a Water Witch version of the same motor and mine also has the "missing" finger lever and appears to be missing linkage. I do not believe that there ever was suppose to be a linkage to the choke. the factory just used a carb the was meant for some other application. However since the choke is spring loaded to stay open, holding the choke closed and yanking the starter cord could be tricky.

Very helpful to see more examples. Thanks fellas. I wonder if the Sears parts department has any of these missing pieces in stock or if I’d have to order them and wait?
