My mag plate is different as the coil and points plate are not the same as yours. The coil is riveted, and the points have a blade spring not a coil one. The points arm is rotted and fell apart. I tested the coil and found no shorts to ground and good continuity through the windings.  I guess in the end I can always make it a nice display motor so I’m pretty happy with how it looks so far.20251030_104121

If the rest of your motor is in that condition, you’re stepping into a big money pit and you can easily end up with little or no reward. After my experience trying to run one (for me) I’ve decided mine is best used as a display item. They are cool looking and even get the attention of people who have no interest in outboard motors.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Yours is fantastic looking! A work of art. My motor is actually in pretty good condition and will display well. I really appreciate all the help you have been able to give me.20251030_104245

Although you have some dents, your tanks are in good condition. You’re more likely to find them in this condition. With some effort you will have something that will get a lot of attention. They will be asking more about them so you have some homework to do.
