I sprayed some old OMC System Matched paint today but I don’t think it is what it says it is on the label. It says light blue, but I think it is more of an amethyst or purple color. What do you think?

A few years ago another can of this same color came out more green than blue.

Well, they got the years wrong for sure….1971 and 1972 had a dark blue color…
That looks like the usual color you get from the rattle can for the later years though…These engines did have a purple type tint in the original color, although not as dramatic as this rattle can….

That is a interesting OMC part you painted. What model does that go to ? That is a funny shade of Blue! 😀

The cover is off an old Westinghouse stick welder I’m trying to clean up and get ready for sale. Think I’ll go shopping tomorrow for a nice shade of blue.

I found the 771247 P/N on the can and it is shown as a light blue. It should keep for twenty years, shouldn’t it?

I wouldn’t be surprised if some component of the colorant has settled out and hardened, and can’t be mixed back in. I would cut it open once depressurized and see what’s stuck to the bottom.

I think I’ll pass on that idea as I’ll probably end up being blurple!

Looking around in my vintage paints I did come across an old Can Tire can of Ford Blue. There was just enough in it to get two coats on. I’m calling er done!

It looks better with the second coat, more bluer . . . 😀
