      Asking the brain trust on which sealer I should use between these two parts (numbers 22 & 26) in the diagram that doesn’t have a gasket.

        Real similar to the 1940’s Johnson T or H models. I would just coat the two surfaces with a light coat of grease. Those two parts, No.22 & No.26, basically form the water pump housing.The parts that really need a good seal are No.26 to No.27 to the gearcase mating surface. Those parts, together with the seals, keep the gear lube in and the water out.

          Yeah, nothing between 22 & 26 unless it makes you feel better. Certainly no gasket in there because that would affect the pump cavity depth.
