I met a man who said he had a White outboard that came from a boat with fins. Anyone have info on this motor? Could it be related to Oliver outboards? I’ve seen White chainsaws.

When he said "white" did he mean White (proper name) or "white" like the color which could be say a 60’s era Johnson or any number of other things?

Never heard of a White outboard motor myself, but White did buy Oliver Farm Equipment in 1962. Could be related or a relationship of confusion I suppose.

The story in this link shows a related topics. ://www.farmshow.com/a_article.php

If Peter Hunn doesn’t mention it (he doesn’t), it doesn’t exist as a brand ? My idea of a white motor from the ’60s would be Scott/McC or Elgin..

So did Evinrude. And short tow ropes. And no wake. All before Photoshop was invented.

My first guess for a boat with fins, it’s likely from the mid 50’s so a white Merc. Second guess, maybe a late 50’s early 60’s Johnson.

But a lot of companies made motors with a white theme color besides the mentioned ones, lots of Chrysler variations were white too.
