      I’ve got an offer to buy a 4hp mariner, (supposed to be 20 or 30 years old) and a "good" sconoue for $275.00! Any info on old Mariner’s would be appreciated. Are they made by Mercury?

        If it’s 30 years old, it’s most likely a Yamaha. I think they switched to Tohatsu some time in the ’90s. Nothing wrong with the Yamahas..

          Most Mariners were rebranded Mercurys, although some models were contracted out as stated above. Note that the Sierra Marine after-market parts catalog has the "Mercury/Mariner" section, and, for a given HP motor, I’ve never found anything in it calls out one brand specifically for a part and not the other.
