Does anyone have one of these Amphenol connectors in their collection of parts? This one has a broken pin.
This is for a 1956 Mercury Mark 30E (S/N 1025579)
August 22, 2015 at 1:36 pm #22487Goto Allied Electric website…
You can order a brand new one with all new pins and body.
Here is your part number:

classicomctools@gmail.comAugust 22, 2015 at 1:57 pm #22488Thanks! I’ll check it out. This is a 6 pin though.
August 22, 2015 at 3:02 pm #22490That number is the exact same as you have…
Same used on that era MK25E, MK30E and MK55E’sI have researched this, and even ordered these, you can call them and order individual parts, plastic retainers, and pins. Trust me this is the one you need, by the way the 8P refers to wire gage size, not qty of pins 🙂

classicomctools@gmail.comAugust 23, 2015 at 2:34 am #22502I stand corrected. This is fabulous info, thank you. I also found a fellow on eBay that will make me a like-new harness for a reasonable price if I want. But I want to explore fixing it myself a little further.
Do you know, by chance, what the part number would be for just the pin? There’s probably a number of them that might work having different wire size crimps. A solder well type is likely the exact replacement, but may be very hard to find.
Also, I have several schematics with conflicting info. Do you know if my motor is positive ground or negative ground?

He has what you need NOS. About 3/4 of the way down the page.August 23, 2015 at 12:27 pm #22514Having rebuilt 3 of those harnesses, If yours is like the last one I got into, trying to replace one pin will be a hoot…. Might be best to redo the whole thing..

classicomctools@gmail.comAugust 27, 2015 at 2:06 am #22747Thanks Richard! I think you’re probably right about trying to replace just the pin. Those pins are designed to stay in place; not wanting to push in or pull out without great effort (and probably special tools). My time and effort could be better spent on many other things. There’s a guy on Ebay that will sell me a complete like-new harness for $103. This is probably the smart way to go, but I’m liking the Allied Electronics lead you gave me. Being an Electrical Engineer, a bit of soldering and heatshrinking is a no brainer.
Thanks also to Wannabe for the good find! While I love supporting our fellow entrepreneurs, I also believe in shopping around. I’m not sure how to interpret "NOS" though ( http://www.acronymfinder.com/NOS.html ). I’m a real newbie.
Regarding the positive or negative ground on this motor, any advise? I can figure it out, but the advise might help if the (+) and (-) wire colors don’t match up well with one of 4 schematics that I’ve dug up.
August 27, 2015 at 2:45 am #22751What about the sweet deal I bought from someone, for my RDE-19, they sent me a 7 pin motor side / 5 pin boat side harness. Nice guys, right! I "engineered" it so it works, but what a nightmare. Not that I WANT to change it now, but is it easy and inexpensive to get the right harness end?
