can I “JB Aluminum weld ” the cam edge on a 5.5hp… it is worn badly just by rubbing against the cam follower on the carb.

or should I just smooth it out with my dremel and install a 7/32 sleeve over the 3/16 cam follower ? hopefully a small stainless & .oiled 7/32 sleeve will rotate along the cam like a rubber roller does on other models

the wear spot is so bad the cam follower jams as the cam rotates from start to high speed

thanks for suggestions for a fix ( I know it would be best to replace the cam altogether )

          Thanks Adam,

it is at the cottage so I have to take it apart for a picture & i’ll recheck the engine mdl# to confirm ( bad memory 🙁 )

i’ll get back to you in a week or two (funerals, travel kids etc… tying up my free time 🙁

Don’t mess around with it, replace the worn cam…
