It’s clear to see that Frank has a lot of supporters in his corner by all of these kind words. Frank, you have helped all of us with your direct, and efficient answers to questions regarding just about anything outboard.

Also appreciated are the special tools that you made. Love that timing fixture! You even made improvements over the original, like stamping “T” & “B” to indicate which cylinder is being timed.

Here’s to many more years of your expert advice on this forum!

We can’t go back. I have already given up skiing and scuba diving, and I am at peace with it. Boating will come too, eventually. The cruel thing is that we all remain 18 years old, in our minds. It is a hard thing to come to grips with. Frank, I hope you get to at least ride in other people’s boats, if you can still attend some AOMCI meets or have friends nearby. I mean, the joke always was that the best way to go boating was in somebody ELSE’S boat!

            Long live American manufacturing!

Over the last year I divested my 30 year collecting of outboard stuff. The most fun I had was with the 30’s  Johnson and Evinrude racers. Most sold to a younger friend in the club. I can say the club is full of great members with a common interest, and all became my friends. I’ll be 80 in a couple of weeks so am on the sidelines, mainly because I abused my body most of my life. I still check the website every day to see what the rest of you are up to. I now watch You Tube videos of things I used to do – Bottle Digging, Gold prospecting   (a little), Mudlarking ( look it up!)

I may need to do the same thing in a few years. I have a heavy fiberglass fishing boat with with a 50hp, and I’m really considering selling it. It is hard to manage moving it around, and the smaller aluminum boats are so easy. I have to ask myself what do I really need to go fishing 10 or 12 times per year (in a good year). Ten years ago, it would have never entered my mind. Times change, and so do we.

Thanks Frank very much for all your much appreciated help to us vintage outboard enthusiasts and I do hope you are able to keep up with all that helpful advice.

I wish to thank you personally for convincing me to buy a Helicoil kit to deal with broken 1’/4 inch studs…..best thing I ever did!

Needless to say, I’m very sorry to hear that you have had to sell your boat. I built my boat in 1959 when i was 16, so and I can see myself having  to make the same decision in the not too distant future…….the legs aren’t as good as they were!

It’s said the happiest day in a mans life is when he buys a boat. Also when he sells it.

                        Not sure about that.
