Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do about a leaking lower unit (prop shaft) seal on my 1946 zephyr? It had a fair amount of fishing line wrapped around it that I believe ate the seal so that when I run it I get some grease coming out around the shaft. Is there a simple fix for this or does anyone have a lead on where another seal can be found? Thanks for the help.

Time for a new seal. You need to find a parts manual for the 1946 Zephyr, find the part number, then get a cross reference for the updated version. Lots of helpful people on here. Someone will most likely help out with the information that you need.

Well that is the problem. From what I can tell it is 195564 "Gear Housing Cap & Bushing" but I have been unable to cross reference it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? It may just be easier to post a for sale add I guess and I am assuming that I will end up with a whole lower unit just for that one piece of it.

The parts list you posted says the propeller shaft grease seal is part number 171526. marineengine.com say they have three of them in stock.

Wow that was a dumb overlook on my part! Thank you for pointing that out for me Frank.
