The real darkside. The horsepower selections closely mimic Johnson/Evinrude traditional selections. I’ll be curious to see ratings on quality and durability, especially in saltwater. Many people will buy on price alone. Is Tohatsu also made in China?

I have enough old OMC’s to last me and my grandkids for a long time. I won’t be ordering one soon.

Tohatsu is Japanese. They have pretty much the whole small engine market locked up right now…..Until the Chinese engines take their design, blatantly copy it and sell it for half price. Or less. I could just blow a gasket. I never thought I would feel sorry for the Japanese manufacturers, but I do.

The Chinese are masterful at reverse engineering and making imitations of millions of products. When it comes to quality of materials, and tolerances, not so good. Time will tell.

My son purchased a Canada Goose down winter coat good for the artic worth 800-1000$ CDN in Canada for ….$80 including a MADE IN CANADA tag

did not take long for chicken feathers to poke out the lining… but it was warm 🙂

Why wouldn’t they be all of the above? Like every other thing they do, they have stolen and copied some of the best designs in the world, and produce them with no legal ramifications. Then we allow them to sell the stuff here, and we are narrow-minded enough to buy it.
