Eventually the German (Prufrex) coils will be all gone. However, I have an opportunity to purchase more of the German (Prufrex) coils from my distributor. My cost, unfortunately, will go up; so I will need to charge about $4 more per coil.
Before I place my order, I’d like to get some idea what my customers think. Here’s your chance to weigh in.

I’ve been lucky so far and have had enough good used coils in my stash, so I haven’t had to buy any new ones. Since market prices for the coils vary all over the place, I guess I would want to know what your price would be. And of course, there is a third choice–coils from OMC/BRP. Sierra would be my last choice, just because of their overall reputation. I would prefer to support you for your efforts toward the club if price is comparable .

BTW, I am down to only one coil left in my stash, so time is approaching.

Well I have bought larger quantities off of you Jim, and I have bought large quantities of Sierra coils.

I have a Sierra account, so the temptation is there for the good profit margin.

However, they seem to be getting worse and worse, quality wise.

My last batch was near impossible to set correctly! I bought 40 coils, so was stuck with them for a while. that is how bad they were. Some seem Ok. Not consistent at all.

For someone that goes through quite a few, I think now I would rather pay the 4 more per coil and be confident that I wont have to go back in there again if there is a failure. Just my 2 cents.

Frank….Jims prices are well below the OEM price per coil. Especially if you buy in bulk.

I have to set up a USA mail box though, as when you ship up here to Canada we get nailed with a hefty duty charge. My last box of coils ended up with a duty to pay at my door when the box arrived. That is not your fault in any way shape or form, just a cost I have to take into consideration which gets added to my per coil price.

Jim, what will be the cost per coil for the German ones?
Wondering what kind of diff. between yours and OEM cost.
What is your bulk break down points?

Me..I would buy from Jim. Met him yesterday at Tomahawk. Stand up guy. What would you rather do… Buy from Jim and have a stand up American to speak with if you have a problem? Or have some flunkie Towel Head from Sierra answer your call " May I be to helping you please". I know..Not politically correct, but then…neither am I.

One lesson I have learned is the best way
to save money is to get the best you can
buy. I’ll pay the extra $4.00.

Does BRP make their own coils? Do they source them from some place other than Prufrex (Germany) or China?

I doubt they make much their own anymore.

That probably is true, but I would like to believe they at least have their own specs and quality control. I don’t believe Sierra has any Quality Control inspections at all. I could be wrong. But if they do, their QC guy ought to be fired.
