Is there an OMC guide or chart outthere somewhere for “translating” old part numbers into newer, modern era numbers? I am trying to find modern part numbers for late 30s era Johnson motors. Examples might be 5-126, 43-84 or 43-126. I would like to know the modern 6 digit number for parts like these.

Any help would be much appreciated!
      Thanks!

OMC dealers did have access to Superceded Part Numbers publications which help to avoid any confusion with the old part numbers and parts with multiple part numbers. I do have two of them but one of them is quite worn from years in a shop and some of the early P/N’s are unreadable. Any part number in particular you are trying to cross over?

          Mumbles,
Can I email or pm you a list of 15-20 parts for translation? I believe I had your email address s couple years ago but I’m sure it’s long gone.

The conversions are found in the parts price books. This is from 1964 price book For newer books, pad the number with zeros to make it 6 or 7 digits long. Thus 51-223 becomes 051223 or 0051223.

Keep in mind that a lot of the numbers are so obsolete that they have simply been dropped from the system, or in some cases reassigned to newer items.

It took two days but I finally found my well used superceded parts numbers lists. Yee-haw!

I’m almost scared to open the pages in case they disintegrate.
