I’m wanting to get my new old Cadillac boat in the lake to see if it floats.
It’s rated for a 40 hp. It may eventually end up with a 25 hp RDE-17 Johnson or
a 1956, 35 hp Evinrude….. or the 40 hp Gale that came with it. (not ready for
prime time) For now, I was thinking of throwing on a 1956, 15 hp
Evinrude, as I know it runs, and appears that I can hook it up to the remote
cables and steering on the boat.
I assume with my weight sitting up front in the boat that has to plane, lol, and
that it will push the boat, albeit “SLOW”.
Just curious, what to expect for top MPH?
Closest “guess” wins the satisfaction of being “closest”, lol.
Also, the Evinrude has a tiller handle on it. Can I leave on while hooked
up to the remote controls?
Thanks!Prepare to be boarded!
June 9, 2019 at 7:58 pm #176967I have a 1957 Orlando clipper and I ran it with a 1957 18 hp Johnson and a 12 horse Gale 1956 on it and I did 24-25 mph with two people with 18 HP and 20-21 with the 12 HP OMC made Gale……. my Orlando clipper is rated for 50 HP your boat looks faster then mine 😏

June 9, 2019 at 9:49 pm #176975That 15 will get you 22, 23 mph. Get the right prop and maybe a little more. Take all the extra equipment out of the boat. One gas can and one body. That’s what mine will do!!

June 10, 2019 at 9:59 am #177014Will plane at 20 mph
