I thought I had a magic decoder ring to figure out Firestone
data plates, but if so, I can’t find it.
I’m guessing it’s close to 1950. Anyone know for sure what year?

      The facts…

      19?? Firestone 5 hp
      Stock # 10-A-73
      Code # 133-3-1735
      Serial # 1735-4924

Also, I’m not finding a parts manual, surprisingly, as I went through a
very similar model a few years ago.
Anyone have a digital manual for this model?

      DSCN6899
      Thanks!

Yes, and I went through my harddrive’s “Scott folder” and
didn’t find what I wanted either, lol

I used the leg & gearcase for a 3.5hp one lunger to make a “shift” motor. I think I still have it. Been iver a year since I’ve been in my storage, I’llness you know. Cool lightweight fishing motors. I used blood pressure cuff tubing to seal the shift shaft, They were a little short on gearcase seals, hope your gears arn’t rusty. If you ever install a driveshaft seal, to get to it heat the stainless impeller housing as it’s glued to the gearcase aluminum + removing the shif shaft guide ( aluminum tubr) there is an O-ring under for a shift shaft seal. A 53 7.6hp Firestone was my first motor over 35 years ago. Use red locktite on the three gearcase cover screws & watch for high spots around the threads. They pull out a little after years of tightening. Still have my 1947 Firestone 10hp. Weird driveshaft. twisted stock inside a guide tube.

Jeff, I haven’t opened up the gear case yet, but did research a little about what impeller
to use. I’m hoping the gear and bearing are okay as well. One I worked on a few years
ago was a mess, and had to replace the Torrington needle bearing and the ball bearing.
                      Thanks.

G Shnelzer, thanks! I’ll check out the link!
