March 14, 2024 at 10:57 pm #285951Thanks for your story, Tubs. The photo of the old camp being demolished is heartbreaking. At least the camp they built is not too garish. I’m glad you’ve gotten to enjoy that pond all these years. its clear to me that you appreciate it in all the right ways. I don’t have a house on the water but I get to spend time on lots of Maine ponds, lakes, and rivers. I feel so lucky to live here. Come to one of our meets when you are here this summer. -DK

Thanks for sharing your interesting story.
April 3, 2024 at 4:56 pm #286488I have been working on the gas tank(s) in my motor. I am pretty sure that the tank that was on it is not original. It also has a lot of body filler on it so is only suitable for painting.
I got another tank from Bob Sturtevant at last weeks Pine Tree meet that is cleaning up nicely. It had a few dents, most of which I was able to improve. It will look great with decals.
The tanks are very similar except for the height dimension.
Does anyone have any idea if A-35 used two different tanks?

I’m not that knowledgeable when it comes
to the Johnson’s.

.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
April 4, 2024 at 9:17 am #286502In my experience,all A thru A-25 tanks were approx 3 1/4” while A-35,A45 were approx 4”

I’m going to mark these tanks as suggested
by Stanly.

April 7, 2024 at 5:19 pm #286553I decided I would try and salvage the “original” tank so stripped it down to bare metal and bondo.
You can see the tank with the bondo removed and after the first round of heating and hammering. Some places responded to low pressure inflation.
Progress.
