I am about to tear into this motor. Checked compression and it’s right at 90. Today i am checking for  spark.  Is there anything special with this motor I should be aware of?  I have no literature on the motor and have not worked on anything this old before.  Thx in advance.

Close.. It resembles this motor but the plate reads Evinrude Model 432.

It looks like this but it clearly reads evinrude on the tank. The model # is 432

Model # 432 is the Sport Single.
Model # 436 is the Super Single.
I’m guessing you have a Sport Single?

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

                Tubs,

Does that Elto have a dual fire coil?

                William,

If you have a dual fire coil use a ohm meter, your reading should be 4 to 7 K ohms putting both spark plug wires on each plug wire. Nice motor!! & good luck!

It is the sport single. I always mix them up. Should be a fun project to get running.

Is that the one that used up a stock of Ruddertwin cylinders during the Depression?

Trying to figure out what spark plug to use. The Evinrude service manual states it is a CH. M6  or part # 190724. I cannot find anything to cross reference it. CH I am assuming is Champion. There was no plug in the motor when I got it.

This data I have shows a Champion D14 will work.
I bought some NOS ones on Ebay a while back, so
                        they’re still “out there”.
