I have a 1953 super fastwin I am restoring. I have pulled the lower end and am putting it back together. When I pulled it the drive shaft had a O-ring between the spines and a hard plastic washer on the shaft that would sit on top of the water pump housing. I do not see this hard washer on the parts list and can’t see any use for it. Can anyone tell me what  is suppose to be on the drive shaft before I reinstall it?

I had a 54 Superfastwin & loved it. I had an o ring about 1/2 the way on the upper driveshaft splines. It held the grease on the splines for lubing the coupling but no plastic of aby kind, I still have new oversize pistons & the rest to rebuild if you need anything. I forgot & sold my motor.

Perhaps you can post a picture or two, don’t know of any hard plastic washers….
