Hi guys, got a question for you. I have a 1953~1954 firestone 10hp (Scott Atwater) that is putting exhaust out to the fuel pump. Any ideas on why this is happening/how do I fix it? Thanks,
      Shawn

Say what?? Are you sure it is exhaust? The fuel pump normally receives pressure pulses from the crankcase. That is what makes it pump.
Something is terribly wrong if it truly is exhaust.

What makes you think it’s exhaust? Like Frank says that’s crankcase pressure & vacuum. It has to come apart, What is the compression for both cylinders? No seal on the crank bottom, naw!

It sounds like you need a new fuel pump diaphragm.

I’ve seen a lean backfire (sneeze) at idle come back through the pulse line. Had a clear vinyl line on it and you could see the flame. Just richened up the low speed and cured the problem.

                Drifter,
You didn’t say the low speed adj jet controls air, not fuel, Turn the opposite way to richen, cut off air flow, fuel is a constant,
