So, with the assistance of club members, I have got my motor back together and running. For some reason I am unable to search the site, can anyone give me instructions on setting the high and low speed needle valves?

Thanks once again to all for your help

search utility is not to good for non members….

you would have  download access to  the Johnson bible  400 pages + to service your  25hp for years to come !

Membership, access to search  and   the Red bible  is worth the annual membership  !!

Revision 1- just realized my membership had expired, renewed, got the red bible. Lots of great info, could have used this book with the rebuild over the winter, oh well.. Thanks for the tip. I’m not finding the info I’m looking for in the book. Could you kindly point me in the right direction?

          Thanks again

HS needle backed out 3/4 turn from lightly seated.  LS needle 1-1/2 turns.  That will get it started.  Final adjustment to be done on a boat on the lake.  Simply adjust to where it runs the best at WOT and idle.  It ain’t rocket science, though some people try to make it so.

I am a member and must have missed something along the way. Where is the “red bible” download?

I remember Frank telling me about my firestone 7.5hp. Turn in the idle jet to richen the mix. The fuel was fixed & adjust air flow to richen. I couldn’t figure out why it was running lean till I asked.

I’m up and running, finally got a chance to use the boat this weekend for an extended time. Thanks to all who helped me get this far. As I was covering the boat I noticed this oil discharge, see pics. No oil on inside of engine housing, only where shown here. Any ideas as to what may be happening?

                    Thanks,

                    John

Looks like the base gasket under the powerhead is bad, allowing exhaust discharge to seep out around the powerhead fastener screw in that recess.  Do you also have the same oily mess in the lower pan area around the base of the powerhead?
