Hello all, I have a 56 Johnson 15 that has the two rear cowl supports sheared off. I have the rubber pieces but need some advice how to repair. I’m sure this must be pretty common as some of my other motors have one broken off but this has both and rattles pretty bad. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Dave

        Dave,

If I understand you, the posts that the rubber piece slips over is broken off. What I have done is drill that spot for a new "post" made from a cut off bolt and epoxy it in place. Then slip the rubber piece on the new post.

Mumbles had some great pics of this on the old boards.

Thanks David, that’s a great idea. That will save a nice original cowl. I’m going to do it tommorow.. Thanks again

Good memory David. I’d almost forgotten about them!

These photos were taken of a ’56 ten horse Johnson with both of the rear mounts broken off. The new pins were made of aluminum and the support washers were made out of Acetal. Some kind of epoxy held everything together.
