I was wondering the correct way to torque the 1956 Johnson 7.5 hp Cylinder Head?

Here’s a diagram that shows typical torque sequence and a torque specification chart for a number of OMC motors. When torquing the head bolts, go 1/2 torque value on the first pass, then 3/4 value on a 2nd pass and full torque on the 3rd pass.

The above information is correct, but there is one thing to add. Once the motor has been run for a bit and the engine has been allowed to get to operating tempture, turn it off and let it cool. Then go back and re-torque one it one last time per manufacture specification. This will insure adequate sealing after the metal and gasket material have been heated and then cooled.
