Okay I was able t to find a choke solenoid  for this so I think i read somewhere I should put an inline fuse in, so where should I place it and what size of fuse should I use for this application.

I am assuming that I take a lead from the switch to the push button switch and then the line to the choke solenoid, is that correct? so should the fuse go between the push button switch and the line to the solenoid?

As you can likely surmise i am not to strong on electrical knowhow, really just part of a long list of things I don’t know!

I’ve never hear of putting a fuse in this circuit but it might already be protected by one of the fuses in the junction box?  Maybe your thinking of  installing a resistor to reduce the voltage when using a 12 volt  ’57 or later choke solenoid in a ’56 or earlier 6 volt system.

EDIT:  I think I mixed that up.  Should read ‘when installing a six volt solenoid in a twelve volt system’.

I should really have a second cup in the mornings.

          Okay, thanks for that.

I have found a 12volt choke solenoid and the1957 is 12 volts I must have been mixed up thinking I should install a fuse in the line some where.

          Thanks Mumbles.

You can install a in line fuse close to the battery. Use an ampmeter to see what correct electrical load should be. Fires on the water are no fun! Ever have a 12 volt battery short out? All wires turn red hot & burn everything like fuel lines. Be SAFE on the water please,
