      Hello,
I’m possibly confused as to what connecting rod bearings are correct for each end for a 1957 Evinrude Lark. Starting with the parts manual, (40) of 302529 needle bearings are called for the crankpin end, and (4) 304322 roller bearing for the wrist pin end. The 304322 wrist pin bearings can be purchased, but a dated price book recommends (2) 378151 and (2) 378152 to supersede the 302529. 378151 is an envelope of (15) needle bearings, and 378152 is an envelope of (20) needle bearings. It was suggested to me that each envelope of (15) needle bearings should be fitted to the wrist pin, and each envelope of (20) needle bearings should be fitted to the crankpin. The later certainly could make sense since (20) needle bearings were originally called for, and maybe the (15) needle bearings could replace the (2) each roller bearings, but for my thought that washers would be required to prevent the wrist pin needles from wearing the piston’s pin bosses. Might anyone know what is truly wise to utilize?

      Thank You In Advance,
      Joe

Nah, 302529 (single roller) was uses in both the 35hp and 18hp. 40 in the 35hp (20 per rod) and 30 in the 18hp (15 per rod).. so you can see the confusion when they started packaging them in sets.

        378151 was a set for an 18hp
378152 was a set for a 35hp OR you could also use that set in an 18 with some left over

          Thank You Frank,

That makes a lot more sense than what was related to me.

          Thank You Again,
          Joe
