No upper seal, just the crankshaft slinger…

305119 is completely different and for another motor. 303391 is the correct carbon seal fo your motor.

Absolutely necessary. If it wasn’t there, it might be why you had to tear it down. The seal keeps water out of the crankcase. Water in the c/c will slowly destroy the motor.
Are the mounts for the sides of the head/intake plate; (knobs w/rubber insert) to shroud available?
I’m sure you can find them somewhere, perhaps used…. I think I have seen a set on ebay…
