Hi all,
I am re-doing my 58 Fastwin 18Hp and want to give repainting my medallions a try. Can someone please post a pic of a nice set so I can see all of the original colors?
Also, I have a new Cowl Retraining Strap, but not one of those elusive clips. Can someone who has one please take a pic of that setup, so I can make me a clip unless a source for one is found. The clip PN is: 203843.
Thansk a bunch as always!!!!!!
May 22, 2016 at 9:23 pm #36984I have not been able to come up with a good shot of that medallion. I think that series of 1950 Evinrudes were some of the most attractive, pretty, handsome, good-looking, alluring, prepossessing; lovely, charming, delightful, appealing, engaging, winsome; ravishing, gorgeous, stunning, arresting, glamorous, bewitching, beguiling; graceful, elegant, exquisite, aesthetic, artistic, decorative, magnificent outboards ever made . . . 😀
But then again I might be a little prejudiced . . . 😆
May 22, 2016 at 9:45 pm #36985Here is a before and after of my 1958 so far, minus the Decals, and Medallions. I have the Decal Set, but waiting another week so I can light sand and clear it and put them on.
I do love the 3 tone paint jobs…hard as heck to re-paint, and mine is Not perfect but I am happy with results for a first time 3 tone paint job. All of my other motors were single color.
This my first 50’s motor….saying that I now have a 56 Lark, and a 56 Johnson 30 on the way from different parts of the country where I talked my friends into buying them for me and bringing them to me when the come here 😆 😆
No one knows about the clip, and or the shape of it?

Thanks those are perfect.
May 23, 2016 at 5:00 pm #37026The late Brooks Stevens might have had some influence on the styling of these fifties classics. After all, he designed the Evinrude Lark and the Wienermobile! 😀
May 23, 2016 at 8:04 pm #37035Inspiring shots guys, they all look great.
I saw an article about Brooks Stevens and a concept boat he designed that they were thinking giving away of but never built, the 59 Evinrude Dreamboat. Here is a shot:
That would have been one great party barge. I like the little dinghy with the lightwin, nice touch.May 24, 2016 at 12:16 am #37041I’m with you Garry! My 1954 Evinrude 15 is a thing of beauty & runs just as well. It gets to go out on special occasions only!
JeffMay 24, 2016 at 2:38 am #37048I love the look of the 1958’s! They are the best looking of all the 50’s Evinrude and Johnson motors. The next is the 53 & 54 motors, they look fantastic also.
Steve
P.S. I need medallions for my 58 Fleetiwn also.
