      I had a full tune up done on my motor and it runs great at 3/4 throttle. Its hard to start and keep idling and skips only at low idle. The is a little electrical current going through when you when you touch the motor chock with a wet hand.
      I replaced all the lower end O-rings AND the lower end was filled with water after a 2 hour ride. Any help?

        Check your plug wires and boots for worn spots. May be shorting to the covers. Make sure the plug wires aren’t rubbing on the flywheel. Turn the throttle and watch the wires as the magneto turns. Also try running with the covers off and see if the shock goes away.

          PLUG WIRES ! I doubt much was done to your carb either.

              Adam, my immediate concern is your gearcase. You mention that orings were replaced, so does that mean someone had the gearcase all apart? Now, you say the gearcase was full of water when you checked it? You need to return the engine to whoever you paid to do this work immediately.
              First, refill the gearcase with gear lube to minimize rust damage.

                How are the coils? If they’re original, then they’re shot.

                  The lower gearscase has several places that can leak. Did the o-ring on the shift rod get replaced? It’s under a brass bushing thathas to be pulled out to replace it. If you have the electric shift this is not a concern, as there is no shift rod. If the propshaft and/or the driveshaft are worn where they rub on the seals, it will leak and you need to replace these shafts. Look carefully at the lower housing for cracks also.

                    Bet the speggti is leaking. First thing is take apart the gears & dry & oil all the parts. When replacing the shift O-ring be sure to have the shift shaft in place. Tap the bushing down into the case until it gets snug or close to tight to be sure it isn’t leaking. Cut the new speggti square on the ends to seal that. I use silicone on the sealing surfaces, then let it dry a few days too.
                    I bet your carb needs cleaning & tuning up. These carbs are tiny & have tiny passages that clog easy. Needs to be soaked in carb cleaner then built again. Don’t change any settings except the removable jets. Turn in very slowly & easy, measure turns to seated & record. reseat when clean

                      That idle carb passage that runs from the bottom center of the carb bowl, up the side of the bowl casting can be tough to get hardened deposits out of.
                      Soak, and/or keep spraying carb cleaner down the hole in the side with the small tube that comes with the cleaner spray can. It took about a full minute of spray to get all the crud out of the last Big Twin I revived.

                        I wouldn’t go into the carb, until the ignition sytem has been gone through. As I stated earlier, these coils are usually at fault, if they’re original. Out of all the outboards I’ve worked on, the carb is rarely the thing that offered me problems.
                        If by chance the coils have been replaced, make sure that the plug wires were installed correctly. Often times, people replace coils onto old wires without trimming the ends and their problems persist. I know, because I have a ’53 Big Twin right here now, that went through this scenario.
