thanks for all the input oh, guys. Will keep you posted on where the mysterious disappearing plastic spray can straw ended up 🙂
April 19, 2022 at 9:40 am #258523What about trying a strong shop vacuum.  Just a thought.

I bought a borescope and will use it to see if the straw is still in the cylinder and go from there. Thanks for the shopvac suggestion. Had not thought of that.
April 28, 2022 at 6:04 am #259090I was just thinking…..If the piston is all the way down and you use a shop vac on the spark plug hole, it seems like it would be possible to draw air and thus fuel, through the carb, through the reed valves and cylinder intake ports, which of course if it DID happen, might go ka-boom in the shop vac. Granted, probably (key word there, PROBABLY) most air would be drawn in through the exhaust ports. But I dunno, I don’t think that I would personally want to take that chance……Just sayin’.
Long live American manufacturing!
October 11, 2023 at 11:31 pm #281552- UPDATE- Could see from the borscope that the straw was in the exhaust port opening. Couldn’t grab it or suck it out. Have run the boat a total of 7 or 8 hours since with no ill effects. I assume it made its way out of the engine or was burned up from the exhaust gasses. Thanks for all the advice, fellas.
- 1983 starcraft 18SS runs really nicely with this 1986 Johnson 120 HP.

October 12, 2023 at 10:07 pm #281578How far are you from Phoenix Arizona. I have surgery scopes at straight 45 & 90 degree with eye pieces & a light fitings used for scope, not open surgerys about 16″ long & about 1/4″ arounnd. They work great for inspecting gun barrels. They are cleaned in cold soak not steam & fog up. Let them dry for a few days & clear up but the hospital just orders more & pitch the steamed ones. Send me a message if you want to use. Lights it up liks a spot light P.S. Has it been running after straw inseration? I have also a light sourse & a biforcated fiberoptic flexable cable to transfer light to the scope too fron robotic assembly line.I know, weird assembly but it works well ;>) !!
