It is a double-edged sword – should dues paying members have the advantage of the freely shared opinions OR wide open responses as a recruitment attraction tool? I have encountered a fair number of non-members who use AOMC but have no desire to spend $ on membership. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? ❓
February 25, 2016 at 1:41 pm #32495That same advice is what got me INTO this club, I want to play with these toys, so why not have access to the vast knowledge…I paid my dues, and will continue

I try to catch the questions in my area of knowledge – Evinrude/Elto outboards mid ’30s to mid ’60s. . . .
😀Evinrude General interest Group leader
I know you do for sure Garry! And we are all grateful for that! 😀

If a fellow asks a question of a SIG leader via email, then he and he alone sees the answer. Most of my knowledge gained from this club came from reading others’ questions and the many responses they’ve garnered. The SIG leaders can be a valuable resource indeed! I would encourage the SIG leaders to scour the boards and respond to questions on the board that pertain to their area of expertise.
perfect answer !
I don’t like when a SIG leader respond with…..I send you a PM or give me a call 😯
( only for the reason that it is to much to write it down in short words and it needs more explanation )
so, MHO , what starts on this board must be answered on this board 😉I, too , learn the most be reading for what is interesting for me at that moment, and………
I don’t like you guys in the US with your always f*****g answer machines.
take your time when it is convenient for you and let us all learn.
btw. the 6 – 9 hours time difference is of course the main problem

The main problem is we all have caller I.D.! 😆I can see putting a little bit on the public forum to entice new people to join..
….but I think it is in the best interest of our club to keep the majority of the information flow going to members only. Special interest group leaders especially.
Maybe this thread should be in the ‘members only’ section?
February 27, 2016 at 12:37 am #32536Kees… you are hitting answering machines because your time zone is late ! You need to get up earlier 😆
Joining AOMCI has priviledges 🙂

Or stay awake the whole night 😯
.February 27, 2016 at 5:22 pm #32561I enjoy reading most everything written here about the outboard. No matter who writes up the reply as long as it is accurate. I too have told others how to redo seals in a motor. I feel he didn’t believe me at first as the seal replacement required more steps than most motors. I have built this motor so I know i’m correct & he came around. The process seems way too difficult at first instruction but it has no short cuts. I’m not anything but a member but where I have experience I will share. I too am the Arizona President but all I do is ask how the members they want the chapter to be run. I feel it is best to have a democratic system & everyone votes for the activities. I may suggest but they make up the body of the chapter. I will read to find the correct reply as I can read a service manual like a good novel, ….really!! 😉
