Anyone Else Have A New Rope Handle Like This?

It’s for a ’62’ Evinrude 10hp, with the long taper that goes inside the cowl boot. The long taper broke immediately and this handle only has 40-50 pulls on it max. I don’t remember where I got it, I thought our Canadian supplier north of the border, but I don’t see it on any of my invoices.

If you got it from Peter (nymarine) in Canada, I think you should at least contact him and give him a chance. I don’t think he is noted for selling junk, and doesn’t want to be.

Yeah, I would determine where you got it from first, then contact them.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has a new handle that just fell apart. I keep most of my receipts and have not found it. All the parts/paint/decals I’ve bought from NYM have been good stuff, and since I don’t have an invoice from them with it on it, I doubt I got it from them. Anyone else that bought the same handle, from the same supplier, I’m sure would know there was a problem within only 10-15 pulls.

I can’t find the receipt (found it for the RD19 and Sea King 5hp pull handles), but it’s from NYM. Theirs are different from the #0334633 that you can see at Seaway. I’ll get hold hold of them and see what they think. No biggie, I’m just surprised it fell apart so fast! It literally got worse with each pull.

check for something rubbing on it like burrs. otherwise it will continue to happen.

David, this thing self-destructed all by itself. What kind of burr, a razor blade that doesn’t cut the rope???
