September 9, 2019 at 11:43 am #182946Wish I ran that good @ 69 years young, NOT!
September 9, 2019 at 12:16 pm #182951I have the Goodyear version Sea Bee.
It needs coils, condenser etc.. where to buy?
Also, is there a carb kit available someplace for this? This one has been sitting and I’m sure needs an overhaul.
Thanks,
Steve
September 9, 2019 at 3:14 pm #182957Ignition parts are same as Johnson/Evinrude, available everywhere.
I had the Sea King version. At the same time, I had a Johnson TN-xx. Both the same year and same horsepower. Same lower unit and propeller. On same boat. But the Gale Sea King would run circles around the Johnson.
No such thing as a carb kit. If you need a float, I use a Sierra 18-7208 (mercury) float. Grind the top dome (only) off and drill 3/32″ down through the center. Good for another.65 years.

September 9, 2019 at 9:17 pm #182971Frank you forgot to tell him what impeller to
get an how to modify it so it fits. There is
one in Butt Ugly and it works great. I can’t
remember just what you said to get. I do
remember Ken saying its easy to do.
Takes the same impeller as the Johnson TN-xx models. Requires reaming out the center hole to fit the Gale drive shaft. Don’t remember the exact size offhand but it’s close. I created the tooling to do it on the lathe but never went into production because somebody else was already doing it at the time
September 9, 2019 at 10:23 pm #182977I just did mine with that impeller and reamed it out with a dremil tool. Didnt take much and it fit!
September 10, 2019 at 12:05 pm #183008Those really are sweet running models. The single and the twins. And; all you do is prime (flood) the carburetor by turning that big knob counter-clockwise….and it will most likely start on the first pull…..even stone cold.
September 10, 2019 at 6:09 pm #183020Very nice. I recently bought my first Gale, a 1956 ELTO 12 hp. So smooth and quiet. Gales definitely deserve more respect.
