So, why don’t I see Caille outboards for sale anywhere? I know of a 1925 Pennant for sale, but would like to know more about them. I really like the variable pitch propeller on them. I would appreciate any information on these unique outboards.
The Caille outboards are just not as common as the same vintage Evinrude, Eltos and Johnsons among others.
I have several Cailles and find them to be artfully designed motors. When you do find one it’s always nice to find them complete as parts for them are harder to come by.
I’m always on the lookout for them.
I have 2 or 3 Pennant type motors both single and 5 speed and they are well behaved motors.
Price is based on condition and completeness of the motor. A Caille Pennant in very good compete condition that turns over is worth up to a few hundred bucks in my opinion.
Very good condition to me is, a straight gas tank with some original decal remaining. The motor turns over. No broken or missing parts.
