Acquired at the Tomahawk met this carb cover/carry handle.  What motor does it fit?  Possibly Sea King by Evinrude5922resized

      , what model?

Now if you can the rest of the motor to go with the cover!
            That’s one motor I wouldn’t mind having.

            Prepare to be boarded!

Me too, I like it. Now I’m looking for the rest of it.  That 1935-38  8.5HP 492 has a more advanced carb than the similar 1932-34 8.0HP 417 Sea King that I have which uses a check valve carb and no cover.

I believe under the cover it has the same carburetor
as the 1938 Fleetwin I once had. (velocity stack is
my own addition.) The primer is problematic in that
it leaks. There is an O ring that will solve that issue
but they wear out quickly. There is also a check
valve (arrow) as part of the primer. If someone
before you decides its some kind of blockage and jams
something in there and destroys it the motor will start
but it does strange things that don’t make any sense.
After several years of getting nowhere Doug Penn
had the part and the answer. Also there are spring
loaded friction plugs for the mixture screws. If you are
not aware of this and you remove the mixture screws
the friction plugs can escape. I found i could make a
replacement from a piece of line for a string trimmer as
                a substitute.

Tubs: Thanks for your timely notes on the Fleetwin which also apply to a couple other of my similar motors with the fancy carb.  I have a ’32 Elto Super A model 456, 8.5 HP with the fancy carb and also a ’39 Elto Fleetwin 4335, 8.5HP with that carb. This Fleetwin was the biggest motor Elto made in 1939. I also have a couple check valve carb similar powerhead motors which are rated 8.0 HP due to the basic carb: a ’32 OMC/Evinrude Sturditwin 420 and a ’32 Sea King 417.
